Water Ingress & Waterproofing — Sydney
Water Ingress & Waterproofing, Sydney
Basements • Balconies • Roofs • Tanks • Pump Pits • Retaining Structures
Water is getting in somewhere — the question is where it's coming from, and why. We trace the actual entry point before selecting a waterproofing, tanking or repair system.
Water entering at one point often shows up somewhere else — hydrostatic pressure can push groundwater through a crack or cold joint well below where staining appears inside.
Not All Water Ingress Is The Same
Where water shows up isn't always where it's getting in.
Basements, balconies, roofs, tanks, pump pits and retaining structures each fail in different ways — hydrostatic pressure, a failed or missing membrane, a crack, or simple surface water. Before we recommend a system, we work through the same questions.
Where is it entering?
Basement wall, balcony deck, roof, tank, pump pit or retaining wall — the visible symptom may not identify the actual entry point.
Is it hydrostatic pressure?
Water pushed in from a high water table behind a retaining wall or basement needs a different fix to surface water crossing a balcony.
Is the membrane failing, or was one never installed?
Older buildings, balconies and podiums were often built without waterproofing to current standards — or the original membrane has simply failed.
Is it linked to a crack or joint?
Water can travel through a crack or construction joint well away from where the staining or dampness actually appears.
Our Water Ingress Diagnosis & Repair Process
We trace the source before we treat the symptom.
Sealing the spot where water appears doesn't fix anything if that isn't where it's actually getting in. This is how we approach it.
Locate
We trace the actual entry point, tracking water back through the structure rather than just treating where it appears.
Identify the mechanism
Hydrostatic pressure, surface water, cracks or joints, and failed or missing waterproofing systems each require a different approach.
Assess the structure
Basements, balconies, roofs, tanks, pump pits and retaining walls each carry different waterproofing requirements and access constraints.
Select the appropriate system
Membrane, tanking, injection or drainage — chosen for that application, not applied by default. See the possible methods below.
Install & verify
The system is installed to spec, and checked before we call the job complete.
