Structural Steel & Corrosion Repair — Sydney
Structural Steel & Corrosion Repair, Sydney

Corroding steel needs the right fix — and that depends on where the steel actually is. This page covers exposed structural steel: beams, columns, plates, brackets and connections. Corrosion inside a concrete element is a different problem — see below.
Corrosion on exposed steel is often concentrated at connections and fixing points, where moisture collects — even when the rest of the member looks sound.
Two Different Problems Called "Corrosion"
Is it the steel itself, or steel inside the concrete?
"Corrosion" covers two quite different repairs. Picking the right one first saves time — and gets you to the right information faster.
Exposed Structural Steel
Beams, columns, plates, brackets, connections and other steel members you can see and touch directly — rusting, flaking or losing section.
Reinforcement Corrosion Inside Concrete
Rust staining, cracking or spalling concrete over embedded steel reinforcement — the steel itself is hidden inside the concrete. That's usually concrete cancer, not exposed steel corrosion.

Steel corrodes fastest where moisture gets trapped.
Before we recommend a repair, we look at what's actually driving the corrosion — not just where it's visible.
Exposed to weather or moisture
Steel exposed to rain, humidity, or a marine or coastal environment corrodes faster without adequate protection.
Coating has failed or was never applied
Paint and galvanising systems break down over time, or weren't specified for the level of exposure.
Connections & fixing points
Bolted or welded connections trap moisture and are often the first point of section loss.
Dissimilar materials or chemicals
Galvanic corrosion, or exposure to chemicals and salts, can accelerate section loss at specific points.
Our Structural Steel Repair Process
Assess the extent first — then match the repair to it.
Corroded steel can mean a simple recoat or a structural issue — the extent of section loss determines which. This is how we approach it.
Assess
We assess the extent of section loss and identify what's driving the corrosion.
Determine the repair
Depending on severity, that may mean surface treatment and recoating, partial section replacement, or structural strengthening coordinated with an engineer.
Prepare
Corroded steel is prepared back to sound material, typically by grinding or abrasive blasting.
Treat & protect
A protective coating system is applied, matched to the exposure and environment.
Verify
The completed work is checked against the specification before we call the job complete.

Why RemedialCore
Backed by process, licensing and decades of hands-on industry experience.
Every repair follows the same diagnosis-first discipline — documented, licensed and insured from start to finish.
Correct diagnosis first. We identify what's driving the corrosion — and confirm whether it's exposed steel or reinforcement — before recommending a repair.
Decades of hands-on industry experience across hundreds of commercial, residential and infrastructure projects.
Fully licensed & insured — NSW Builder and Waterproofing licences, Public Liability, Home Owner Warranty and Professional Indemnity cover.
Engineering-aligned delivery where the repair scope requires engineering input or specification.
Clear communication with clients, consultants and project teams throughout the job.
